Abomination 44: The Valley of the Perytons Pt III
Valley of the Perytons, Barrier Peaks Oktha held the spyglass to his eye and studied the enemy village from a warrior’s perspective, searching for any exploitable weakness in the barbarians’ defenses. Having no opposition within the valley, the village had no need of a wall, not even a wooden palisade. There were no dogs or other guard animals present, nor were there any horses or other mounts, and despite the villagers’ reverence for the perytons none of the monsters saw fit to dwell amongst them. Most of the barbarians were armed with primitive stone weapons, although a few carried metal weapons most likely scavenged from the ruins. The stone keep in which the girls were being held was intended to serve as a strongpoint for the village, but it didn’t seem like the current owners were making use of its fortifications. Oktha returned the spyglass to its case. “Minimal vigilance. The constructs seem to be confined to the greenhouses, and none of them have the look of a

Dagaz Part 2 - Silent Sentinel
Sparks flew as steel clashed with steel. The two mighty warriors had been duelling now for ten minutes straight, and neither showed any signs of slowing. The first was a hulking and heavily-scarred man wielding a massive double-headed axe. Hardened by his thirty years of pillaging and plundering, he showed no mercy as he unleashed attack after attack against his smaller opponent. However, despite his ferocity, the brutal raider had not once breach his foe's defences. He snarled and roared with every swing, and each brought with it the power to split a small ship's hull open. And yet his opponent remained composed, unharmed, and most unsettling of all... silent. The second combatant was of more average height, and was armed with nothing more than a simple sword. He'd began the duel with a shield that was almost has tall as he was, but had discarded it after only ten seconds, once it had momentarily shimmered with silver light. While his opponent was clad in mostly leathers and furs

Technomancer’s road, Barrier Peaks The two men finally exited the winding tunnel, stepping out into the late afternoon sunlight and looking out over a large valley dominated by mature pine trees. The steel rails of the ancient road once continued out over the valley on a long wooden trestle bridge, but that bridge had long ago fallen into ruin. That didn’t concern Oktha, however, since following the ruins to the bridge’s terminus on the other side of the valley would be a simple task. What he was concerned about was finding Shelagh, Septina and Glenna; they were swept away by the river when the old iron bridge collapsed. A blanket of dark clouds was descending upon the valley. It would snow soon, and snow at this elevation could become a raging blizzard in a blink of an eye. Dead or alive, they had to find the girls soon. Oktha slowly scanned the valley, looking for telltale signs of dangers that a less cautious traveler might miss. Peryton bucks soared over the valley as if

Technomancer’s road, Barrier Peaks For six days Shelagh and party followed the ancient steel rails as they traversed impossibly rugged landscape. She was impressed by the immensity of the road’s construction, which made even the grandest dwarven citadel look like a child’s sandcastle. The steel road spanned deep chasms and raging river gorges, soared above small valleys, clung precariously to the sides of sheer cliffs and bored through solid mountains. The builders even put a stout wooden roof over large sections of the road to protect it from the all-too frequent avalanches. That such a monumental construction could survive intact for centuries in these unforgiving conditions was a testament to the technogolems that maintained it. There was never a time when Shelagh didn’t see at least one of the tireless constructs meticulously going about the task it’s long-dead masters had given it. Until now, that is. Shelagh let out an exasperated breath. “I should have known something

Rockport Quin-toil could not have asked for more favorable circumstances. It was well into the evening hours, and the dark woman had just staggered out of the fancy rich-folk tavern in the company of some human fop. The gnolls were having an exceptionally easy time following the pair, because the man was so focused on winning the dark-skinned beauty’s charms that he wasn’t paying attention to the streets around him, and in Rockport that was often a fatal mistake. The fop wore frilly clothes that looked better suited to a woman but was carrying a sword, which made him potentially dangerous. He had his left arm around the dark woman’s waist, supposedly to guide her semi-drunken steps, but it didn’t take a sage to figure out what his intent really was. Their prey moved away from the tavern district and into a run-down residential area. Decrepit tenements, vacant shops, and cheap flop houses stood on both sides of the avenue. Old wagons, stacks of long-emptied wooden crates

At the request of Captain Sanguine, the twins decided to take on one final task before saying their goodbyes to Serendipity's crew. The promise of one final adventure before heading home sounded like a good idea at the time. They only wished they'd asked what the task was before they agreed to it. On top of the cart were the twins' special delivery. Though this time round, the cargo was anything but typical. Strapped to the cart was a wooden coffin painted black with silver flowers and skulls painted around the edges. Though the coffin itself wasn't the cargo, but the corpse inside it. Their assignment was delivering the dead body to the local graveyard. For once Aurana refused to ride in the cart. She barely tolerated flying alongside it, though not without the usual complaint. "Of all the disgusting things we've done, this has got to be the sickest of them all! I can't believe the Captain would ask us to do something so vile, and on All Hallows' Eve no less! Hmph! After all we've

DnD Prompts 30 - Dragon
Two dragons—as different from one another day and night—soared over the horizon towards Serendipity. The male dragon had golden scales, warm as the golden sun in the sky above. His body long, sinuous and powerful. His wings waved like two mighty fans stirring up a cool breeze in the autumn air. Being only a century and a quarter old, he was still fairly young as far as dragons go, yet the hint of whiskers were starting to sprout from his draconic snout, marking his claim to adulthood. The female dragon, was significantly larger in size, but equally regal in appearance. Her lavender scales shimmered and shined in the sunlight, reflecting its lavishing gaze as serenely as the moon. The glimmer of her dark wings was reminiscent of stars in the night sky. She gave off a radiant aura of magic as she glided alongside her golden partner. As the two landed in the harbor where Serendipty docked, they were welcomed with astonished awe at their majestic presence. It wasn't every day a couple

One evening, while the twins enjoyed a nice relaxing day of hanging out on the deck of Serendipity, Lancea began reflecting on the past season. Memories—both the good and bad—coursed through her head. Their adventures certainly had been memorable ones. Meeting Sanguine, the Smokes, kobolds, and of course the ship of wandering wonders wouldn't be an experience she'd soon forget. Aurana placed a hand on her sister's arm. "Lancea dear, your gaze is millions of miles away. Come back to me! Tell me what you're thinking about." "Sorry, I was just reminiscing about the time we spent here together. We'll be going home in a few days. It makes me feel kind of sad. I think I shall come to miss it here." Aurana nodded. "I won't lie and say I've enjoyed myself entirely, but it wasn't all bad I suppose. If anything, I think I'll miss the wish room most of all. Having a room that caters to your every desire, that is truly a gift worthy of a Demigoddess of Dreams." Lancea nodded. She herself had
